Wellington Police again pleased with overall behaviour

Wellington Police again pleased with overall behaviour of Sevens fans

Wellington Police are pleased with the overall behaviour of Sevens fans over the weekend.

Hertz Sevens Operation Commander Inspector Simon Perry says 52 people were arrested overnight in the city, mostly for alcohol-fuelled disorderly and offensive behaviour and breaching the liquor ban.

"Again, Police are very pleased with the behaviour of Sevens partygoers, despite the weather yesterday and the large numbers of people present at the stadium and throughout the city.

On day one, 8 people were arrested and 28 evicted. Yesterday there were 6 arrests and 40 evictions.

Inspector Perry says the number of arrests and evictions at the stadium throughout the course of the event were well down on last year, which is pleasing to note.
