Children’s Day Set To Be Big In South Auckland
29 February 2012
South Auckland is celebrating Children’s Day 2012 with a series of fun, family friendly activities that will entertain children, parents and caregivers alike.
The Mayor says our tamariki are precious and Children’s Day provides a reminder to us all that our children should be treasured every single day of the year.
“It’s great to see so many organisations getting on board and organising Children’s Day activities and we here at Auckland Council are proud to support them,” says Len Brown.
This year throughout the south there will be a wide range of fun activities including a huge celebration in Pukekohe featuring a hip-hop demonstration, and a police dog handling display.
Papakura Parents Centre is laying on a fun family carnival and Otara Leisure Centre has an open family day with a pool, aqua runs, relays and storytelling.
Manurewa Recreation Centre is celebrating with a bouncy castle and new games.
Also this year, Nathan Homestead hosts the Children’s Art festival and Kids in the Hood have combined to offer incredible arts and crafts, a clown and magic show, sausage sizzle and prizes for families to enjoy.
Papatoetoe is celebrating 150 years with a focus on their children, presenting lots of fun activities, including traditional games.
