Be
part of Auckland Heritage Festival 2012
Auckland Council is calling for submissions from event organisers, community groups and organisations to be part of the annual Auckland Heritage Festival taking place this year from 29 September until 14 October 2012.
Every year
we celebrate Auckland’s heritage and this year’s events
will focus on:
• celebrating the legacy of Sir John
Logan Campbell
• celebrating Auckland’s distinctive
built, cultural and natural heritage
• promoting a
greater understanding of our heritage to encourage
stewardship and advocacy.
Event organisers, organisations and community groups are encouraged to be part of the festival by visiting http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/Events
The last date for submissions is 8 July 2012.
The festival showcases Auckland’s heritage and gives Aucklanders the opportunity to discover and experience it.
Some events that featured at last year’s festival included guided heritage walks, tours of historic sites including Auckland’s unique volcanic terrain, concerts, historic market days, movies from the silent era, historic collections, classic yachts and cars, a sail on a heritage vessel, activities for children to enjoy and participate, an insight into our military history and other fascinating stories from our past.
