State Highway 29 – Poike Road roundabout major maintenance

5 June 2014 | NZ Transport Agency - Waikato & Bay of Plenty

State Highway 29 – Poike Road roundabout major maintenance repairs

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists who travel through the Poike Road roundabout on State Highway 29 (SH29) that major night works will be commencing on Sunday 8 June.

Major pavement repair work will take place to the roundabout, and all its approaches, starting 6.30pm on Sunday 8 June and will continue each night (excluding Friday & Saturday nights) through to 6.30am on Monday 16 June.

During certain phases of the work parts of the roundabout will be closed off to vehicles. Motorists travelling on Poike Road approaching the roundabout from the Windermere Bay of Plenty Polytechnic or from Ohauiti Road may be required to take a signposted detour route, either via:

- the SH29 Oropi Road roundabout or the SH29 Welcome Bay Road roundabout or,

- Ohauiti Road / Welcome Bay Road.

Motorists travelling on SH29 approaching the roundabout will not be detoured.

There will be a 50km/h speed restriction in place both during unattended day hours and during the hours of the night works, 6.30pm to 6.30am, including on the adjacent portions of Poike Road.

Motorists are advised to drive with care and to expect delays as there will be an uneven surface, especially during the early evening hours.

The Transport Agency wishes to thank drivers for their patience and Tauranga City Council for their cooperation, while these works are being done.
