Boil Water Notice for Arrowtown

Boil Water Notice for Arrowtown

Arrowtown residents and businesses are advised to boil all water for drinking and food preparation until at least next Tuesday.

Queenstown Lakes District Council has issued a Boil Water Notice, because routine sampling has identified e-coli in the reticulated system in Arrowtown.

QLDC Chief Engineer Ulrich Glasner said the source of the bacteria had not been established, but the boil water notice would remain in place until there were three consecutive days of clear sampling. That will be next Tuesday at the earliest.

Water should be boiled for at least one minute before use. Cooled boiled water can be stored in the refridgerator.

Arrowtown’s new water treatment system will be commissioned in about four weeks. Mr Glasner said the ultra violet treatment would prevent this kind of occurrence.
