Motor vehicle crash on SH73 Yaldhurst Road

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a head on vehicle crash on SH73 involving 2 vehicles.

Two trucks, one carrying wet dirt the other empty containers, hit head on shortly after 9.30am this morning. The driver of the truck carrying the empty containers is currently being freed by the Fire Service and is likely to be taken to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries. The other driver is reported to be uninjured.

Diversions are currently in place on SH73 Yaldhurst Road from the intersection with SH1 Russley Road and Cutts Road. Police urge the public to stay away from the area for the next hour while diversions are in place.

Police are attending the scene and investigating are continuing into the cause of the crash.
