Serious crash on SH1 Orari-Rangitata Highway

Emergency services are
responding to the scene of a serious crash on SH1
Orari-Rangitata Highway that occurred just after 2.30pm
today.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash and a number of people are thought to be seriously injured.
There are diversions on SH1 at Racecourse Road and Orari Station Road and these are likely to remain in place for some time. Police ask the public to avoid the area where possible and allow additional time to complete their journey while diversions are in place.
Police are investigating the crash and Canterbury’s Serious Crash Unit will attend the scene.
A further update will follow later today.
