Random Acts of Pancakes in Christchurch today

"Random Acts of Pancakes in Christchurch today"

The Random Acts of Pancakes initiative hits Christchurch today, with the first random act scheduled to be at 7.30am and the last at 11am when the UCSA Tea Party starts! The project is being organised by Red Frogs, La Vida and the UCSA supported by the Christchurch Police Neighbourhood Police Teams.

Over 30 parties have been selected at random from the Good One website www.goodone.org.nz to receive a visit from the Random Acts of Pancakes team. This initiative aims to reduce problems associated with excessive alcohol consumption by ensuring party goers are eating and hydrating as well as having a fun, safe party and is the first Red Frogs event in Christchurch.

Red Frogs is a Support Network launched in Australia in 1997.

Since then, it has expanded into 7 countries around the world and started operating in New Zealand in 2007 when it launched in both Otago and Auckland. Red Frogs aims to establish a positive culture around partying by providing on-the-ground support at parties and events such as Safe Zones for those who are at risk & Hydration Stations (to encourage water/food consumption). Red Frogs also provides Training and Education both with High School Students, Sporting teams and University Teams around how to have a positive influence and set a healthy Party Culture and atmosphere.

The Good One website grew out of an initiative the Neighbourhood Police Team was doing in the area and discussions with ACC, CPH, HPA, Canterbury and Lincoln Universities and their Student Associations.

The Good One Party Register covers all of Christchurch City. The purpose of Good One is not to stop parties but to prevent problems before they occur so that people can socialise in a responsible and safe manner, allowing the organisers, the guests, the neighbours, the wider community, and Police to all have a “Good One”.
