Death - Gooch Place, Sommerville

Counties Manukau Police are investigating the death of a 41 year-old man who died during an altercation at Gooch Place, Sommerville, in the early hours of this morning.

A scene examination is underway and Police are interviewing witnesses in order to establish how the death ocurred.

The area has good CCTV coverage which Police hope will be of assistance to the investigation.

Police ask anyone who was present at the time to make contact with them as soon as possible.

"We are aware that at least one vehicle fled the scene immediately after the altercation," Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said.

"It would be in the best interests of the person or people who were in that vehicle to contact us of their own volition as soon as possible."
