The post-mortem examination of the 41 year-old man who died after being hit by a vehicle in Gooch Place, Sommerville at about 2.15 yesterday morning, has been completed. The deceased was Richard Samuels, a 41 year old mechanic from Maraetai.
Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander of Counties/Manukau Police said the investigation into Mr Samuels' death is ongoing.
“The vehicle that was involved in the tragic incident has been located and seized and is undergoing a forensic examination.
“We have spoken with the driver who was arrested late yesterday on pre-existing unrelated matters that he was wanted to interview by Auckland City Police about. He is a 44 year-old Botany Downs man who will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with three counts of obtaining by deception."
