Deals for Aucklanders to become tourists in their city

Deals for Aucklanders to become tourists in their city

Aucklanders will be able to purchase a range of half price deals from today, including trips to several of the Hauraki Gulf islands, thrilling jet boat rides, scenic helicopter flights, tickets to some of Auckland’s top attractions and much more.

The deals are available through the GrabOne website and form part of a new campaign by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) to encourage Aucklanders to explore their own backyard.

Aucklanders will also be able to share a photo of their favourite Auckland experience on aucklandnz.com to go in the draw to win ‘The Ultimate Non-Stop Auckland Weekend’. One lucky winner will be able to fly four friends or family to Auckland to join them for a variety of memorable experiences.

ATEED Manager Tourism Jason Hill says Auckland is a diverse city with countless adventures, and the aim is to encourage Aucklanders to get out and about experiencing the region like a tourist does.

The half price Grab One deals include:

• Auckland whale and dolphin safari.

• Entry to Stardome Observatory.

• Auckland Sea Kayaks tour to Motukorea (Brown’s Island).

• Auckland Adventure Jet.

• Heletranz flights.

• Behind the scenes experiences at Auckland Zoo (African, Lemur and Lions).

• Adult entry to Ewelme Cottage in Parnell.

“Now is the perfect time to take advantage of the deals before the non-stop summer season clicks into high gear. Whether you want to explore the water, wineries or walking tracks, ATEED encourage you to get out and experience the unique attractions that have helped earn our city international recognition as a world-class tourism destination,” says Mr Hill.

Auckland was named one of the Top 10 Cities to visit in 2014 in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2014, which highlights the best trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for the upcoming year.

The Top 10 Cities were independently nominated by more than 500 Lonely Planet authors and staff and selected based on topicality, excitement and ‘x-factor’.
