Travel Smart to The Block NZ Open Homes 2014

Travel Smart to The Block NZ Open Homes 2014

Auckland Transport is encouraging visitors to The Block NZ Open Homes 2014 on Saturday to get smart and think about travelling without the car. Thousands of viewers flocked to last year’s event to see the four houses up close.

TV3 is inviting viewers to visit The Block NZ site at Newell Street in Pt Chevalier between 9am and 3pm this Saturday.

There will be no parking around the site so organisers are working with Auckland Transport to publicise alternative transport options:

• Walk – Spring is in the air so for shorter journeys, go by foot.
• Cycle – Use your bike and leave it safely with the on-site Auckland Transport Cycle Valet on Walford Street, opposite Newell Street between 9am and 3pm.
• Take the bus – The Outer Link bus runs every 15 minutes on its regular loop route from Wellesley Street via Newmarket, Epsom, Balmoral, Mt Eden, St Lukes, Mt Albert, Meola Rd, through Westmere, Herne Bay and then back to Wellesley St. The stops closest to Newell St are located on Meola Road near the Walford Road intersection. The 030 service travels between Downtown and Pt Chevalier half hourly, arriving at Stop 8009 - 300 Pt Chevalier Rd.
• Take the train - Buses will replace some trains on the Southern line (including Manukau and Onehunga lines) and on the Western Line between Grafton and Newmarket. Catch a train or Rail Bus service to Britomart and change on to a 030 or Outer Link service.
• Take the ferry - The Downtown Ferry Terminal is located on Quay St in Downtown Auckland. Ferry passengers can hop on a 030 bus service that departs from stop 7041 - Queen St opposite Tyler St.
