The Tannery seals up

The Tannery is pleased to announce completion of Stage 1 of the car park project that will see 230 car parks onsite and adjacent by June 2015. The paving and rationalisation of the customer vehicle area includes incorporating 5 bicycle stands and taxi and coach parking.

"We're pleased to announce our transport plan which is about customers and our environment," said Alasdair Cassels. "As part of the car park work we're installed a tank which will hold and filter 2,000 litres of runoff water before it goes into waste water off our site. We also want to make biking easier with our cycle stands so by February / March, and we are working with the City Council on cycle way access alongside the river. And we've been talking to reputable taxi companies about how they can better get access. We'd like the Orbiter to come passed here but we will be looking at bus options in discussion with the two Council's. We've known for a while parking and access is an issue, and we've listened to our customers and this is an issue for our tenants and neighbours, we want to ensure that what we do improves the environment, local area and personal safety as well".

Keeping waste out of the Heathcote River and improved transport options are part of the Cassels & Sons' philosophy and The Tannery already has two cycle shops. River quality and amenity are Cassels' goals and a focus over the next few years, "This is a major issue and our River deserves better, and we're committed to reducing pollution and improving water quality; we want to see canoeing alongside the bridge we're restoring," said Alasdair Cassels.

Stage 2 of the car park will see the area levelled, paved and painted starting in February depending on weather and contractors. "With world class shops and excellent food we deserve world class parking," said Alasdair.
