Original Kilbirnie Festival finds new home

Never fear, Wellington, the original Kilbirnie Festival is here to stay and it’s going to be more spectacular than ever.

The Kilbirnie Festival of Creativity will be held at St Patrick’s College on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1 from 10am-4pm.

Martin Wilson, who produced the Kilbirnie Festival for 19 years, is intent on giving the community the same family fun enjoyed every year.

“Why fix it if it ain’t broke. The festival has always been a wonderful way to enjoy the area,” Martin says.

Both days will include a market with a variety of retail and food stalls, giant chess, bottletop art, a DJ stage, fairground rides, kids rides and kids creative activities.

On Saturday, locals are invited to taste the diversity ever present in the bustling suburb of Kilbirnie, with a World Food Fair.

Local schools are welcome to participate in the food fair with their own delectable range of ethnic foods.

Saturday will also include a line up of original bands including local superstars, The Julie Lamb Band and The David Greer Band.

Sunday will be bursting with activity for all ages with crafts, sports, adventure courses and the Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars talent contest for kids.

The Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars talent contest will also feature a performance from local charity group, Star Jam.

Star Jam provides musical opportunities for children with disabilities and their performances are always spectacular.

Locals are warmly invited to participate in any way they like. As a performer, food or crafts stallholder, information stallholder, fundraiser, membership driver or just Food stalls are regulated for hygiene. Please see the craft and food stall applications for all prices and details. Terms and Conditions apply to all stalls.

The Kilbirnie Festival of Creativity is the first in a line of creative events to come.
