Fatal Crash - Masterton - Wellington

Emergency Services are on the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway 2, north of Masterton.

At 7.15pm tonight Ambulance were advised that a car had crashed just south of the Mount Bruce summit and that the female passenger was thrown from the vehicle. Emergency services arrived and attended to the female. Unfortunately she has died at the scene before she could be flown to hospital.

The male driver has minor injuries and will be taken to Masterton Hospital for assessment.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is on their way to the scene and will be carrying out a scene examination to establish the cause of the crash. The road is closed while the scene is cleared.

At this time Police are not able to confirm the ages of the two occupants or where they live. A further media release will be made tomorrow.
