Recording details of personal property pays off

Police investigating burglaries in Auckland's Eastern Bays were able to successfully return some stolen property to owners who'd had the foresight to record images of it.

Sergeant Matt Smith of the Glen Innes Tactical Crime Unit said warrants were executed on Tuesday in Maramarua where jewellery and property believed to have been stolen during burglaries in Auckland was recovered.

"Several victims had supplied us with photos of some of their jewellery that had been taken.

These proved invaluable when identifying the property as stolen and recovering it.

"The victims were obviously pleased to get their valuables back, especially items of sentimental value. We still have property, including football winners' medals dated 1952 and a Waitangi commemorative coin [see pictures] that we want to return to their owners."

A 20 year old man was spoken to in relation to the recovered property and will be charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.

Police are also appealing for information on the whereabouts of 24 year-old Tamzen Bush in relation to the recovered property.

Tamzen is Caucasian, stands about 170 cm tall and is of medium to solid build. Anyone with information on Tamzen can call the Glen Innes TCU on 09 526 7326 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555.
