New Location for Thames i-SITE Visitor Centre

On the 1st July 2015 Destination Coromandel took over the management of the Thames i-SITE Visitor Centre, as it did with the i-SITE in Whitianga last year. On the 1st August, the Thames i-SITE will move to its new location at the Thames Civic Centre at 200 Mary Street, a move that has been long awaited. Along with the change in location, the Thames bus station will also be relocated to the Civic Centre.

Operations at the Thames i-SITE will continue as normal. The only service not being retained is the AA Driving Licensing, which is now available at the Thames Coromandel District Council office. Additional services will be introduced over time, which will include agencies such as Eventfinda. The centre offers a full range of booking services for accommodation, activities and transport within Thames, The Coromandel and throughout New Zealand. Additional services such as local community contact details can also be found at the i-SITE.

It is the mission of Destination Coromandel for both the Thames and Whitianga i-SITES to provide comprehensive, reliable and relevant information to the consumer in a timely and professional manner, while encouraging longer visitation and higher spend in The Coromandel. Through the i-SITE brand the two i-SITES aim to ensure that The Coromandel delivers on the promise Tourism New Zealand promotes through the 100% Pure New Zealand campaign - encouraging visitors to do more, and see more, during their holiday - specifically on The Coromandel.

“We look forward to delivering the good for your soul welcome to all visitors of the Thames i-SITE, while providing them inspiration and plenty of reasons to explore the area”, says Destination Coromandel’s Manger, Hadley Dryden. “This is our opportunity to engage directly with the visitor and ensure we can get them to stay longer and spend more in The Coromandel” he adds.

In addition to the relocation of the Thames i-SITE, the Destination Coromandel offices will also be relocating on the 1st August to a separate office space at the Thames Civic Centre.
