Masport Unleashes ‘The Beast’

MEDIA RELEASE

For The Man Who Has Everything, Masport Unleashes ‘The Beast’

Million dollar investment in state-of-the-art lawnmower

The new Masport Series V (MSV) - also known as ‘The Beast’ (model shown: MSV 4’n’1).

Auckland, 07 July 2004: The most stylish and sophisticated state-of-the-art mower ever launched on the Australasian market has just been unveiled by lawn and garden leader, Masport Limited.

The cutting edge Masport Series V (MSV) is the result of investing more than two years of research and millions of dollars by Masport and represents a significant new direction for lawn mowing.

Masport General Manager Sales and Marketing, David Woodward, says the MSV, which will be available in up to six model ranges and retails from NZ$899, is targeted at those who seek “high performance in a mower to match their growing arsenal of outdoor equipment tools.”

Mr Woodward describes the MSV as a “predatory herbivore” - hence the mower being launched on the market as ‘The Beast’.

“People are becoming more and more house proud and they enjoy entertaining guests. We believe the MSV will fulfil the growing demand for stylish outdoor living products as well as provide a highly functional addition to the garden shed,” he says.

The MSV has been described as the ‘luxury sport car’ of lawn mowers thanks to unique body mouldings, airflow design, wide 8-inch mag wheels and striking aubergine coloured alloy chassis.

The mower’s performance capabilities are equally impressive. A selection of superior engine options are complemented by a heavy-duty four blade cutting disc that swiftly and precisely deals to any lawn, wet or dry. A wide 19” dual MowZone with offset chassis enables the machine to mow over edges, and with eleven cutting level settings, the MSV is sure to trim to the perfect height, every time.

The MSV is not only strong on looks and performance. The series also boasts intelligent comfort features, such as an infinitely height adjustable ErgoHandle complete with comfort grip, and an ergonomic catcher to minimise back strain. In addition, the ErgoShift feature release enables the handle to be repositioned for instant, easy catcher access, and all MSV mowers utilise Masport’s Zonestart technology with conveniently located starter cord.

And if that wasn’t enough, maintenance of ‘the beast’ is also breeze. An innovative ‘wash port’ allows the MSV to be cleaned by simply running a rose down a specially designed porthole while the engine is running. Best of all, the MSV is compact and easy to store.

The MSV launch is being supported by an advertising and promotions campaign across Australasia, utilising television, point of sale, billboards and press media.

Mr Woodward believes this multi-million dollar promotional investment will further cement Masport in the minds of consumers and trade as an icon company.

“This is a very significant product development for Masport and the industry overall,” he says. “We want to further demonstrate our leadership and commitment to product innovation and manufacturing superiority - and the MSV is the perfect vehicle for us to do that.”
