Grenville Gaskell Public Trust Chief Executive

Grenville Gaskell Appointed Public Trust Chief Executive

Grenville Gaskell has been appointed Public Trust’s new chief executive; he is currently Director New Zealand Operations with Meridian Energy.

Public Trust chairman Peter Taylor said, “We are very pleased to appoint someone with extensive commercial experience to take over the leadership of Public Trust.”

Since early 2002 Mr Gaskell has held several senior management roles with Meridian Energy, the country’s largest state owned electricity generator. His most recent position was as Director of NZ Operations responsible for Meridian’s generation assets, trading and wholesale customers. Prior to Meridian he was General Manager Retail Markets with The National Bank of New Zealand, responsible for personal customer strategy and core banking products. He was financial controller of the former Rural Bank.

Mr Gaskell has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University, lives in Karori with his partner, and has two children aged 12 and 15.

He takes over from Pat Waite, chief executive since early 2003, who has overseen the turnaround of Public Trust’s financial performance.

“The Board recognises the significant contribution Pat has made to Public Trust over the last four years. He has laid down a solid foundation for the future based on a clear strategic direction and we wish him well in his retirement on 31 March.

“Grenville will bring considerable experience in developing and implementing customer and product strategies. The Board looks forward to him taking up his appointment in April,” Mr Taylor said.
