Mainzeal Property and Construction Limited today regrettably confirm that an incident has occurred at the Lion Nathan construction site in East Tamaki, Auckland, which has resulted in a fatality.

No other persons were involved or have been injured in this incident.

The victim was a highly experienced self-employed contractor who had a history spanning 20 years in construction. The incident occurred when steel dislodged while being unloaded from a truck.

“Safety is paramount and non-negotiable for Mainzeal.

“Mainzeal is co-operating fully with authorities on-site and are focusing on comforting next of kin. We are also doing everything we can to support our team members that witnessed the incident.

“The cause of the incident is not yet known and a full investigation is being conducted.

“As part of this investigation we will be working closely with the relevant authorities and will provide an update as soon as more information is available,” says Mr Gomm.
