Farmside Sets New Standard For Rural Broadband

Rural communities have said they need faster, cheaper and more reliable high-speed broadband access. In response Farmside, New Zealand’s leading rural telecommunications provider, has raised the standard in data provision for rural Kiwis. Farmside are offering a full 14 hour off-peak plan that allows their customers unparalleled high-speed broadband access.

While off-peak pricing is nothing new, Farmside have been able to extend the period of the Off-Peak Booster packages to a full 14 hours – from either midnight to 8am or from midnight to 2pm.

“Farmside statistics indicate customer peak usage time is between 5pm to 11pm leaving additional capacity at other times,” said Tony Baird, Farmside’s CEO.

”Farmside have invested heavily in New Zealand based satellite technology and can provide high-speed broadband to customers right now.”

“Our customers are taking advantage of satellite delivered high-speed broadband now and recognise that getting fibre to the door will take some time,” said Tony Baird.

Farmside’s new Off-Peak Booster plan means in a single month rural customers could download (for example) 50 full length feature movies, view over 1000 video clips on YouTube, or share thousands of photographs with family and friends overseas, as well as the day-to-day email, weather and other internet based activities.

“Our new Off-Peak Booster packages will allow our customers significant off-peak data opportunities each month at a heavily reduced price, allowing them to experience the internet like never before,” said Tony Baird, Farmside’s CEO.
