TracMap launches new innovative technology for utility sector

TracMap NZ Ltd, New Zealand’s largest agricultural GPS guidance and mapping provider believes there is huge growth potential with the release of new technology targeted at the utility services sector. TracMap showcased their new technology at an event from their base in Mosgiel, on Tuesday 6 July with over 80 invited guests. The event also celebrated their recent success as winner of the New Zealand Hi-Tech Emerging Company Award and recognition as the eighth fastest growing company in the Deloittes NZ Fast 50.

The new technology being launched is known as TM465 and is over three years in the making. What makes it unique is how easy it is to use, and particularly suits fitting to single operator vehicles such as road spraying units, rubbish trucks, mowers or bulldozers. The new technology will allow TracMap to expand their operation from agricultural and aviation applications into the utility services sector, working with contractors or local councils to create cost efficiencies and improved logistical reporting procedures and increased safety for the public.

This new technology is attracting strong interest as it reduces risk and provides reporting in a simple to use package. What makes it different from other GPS based devices is the ability to display purpose maps on screen, which makes it easy for the user to know where they are, and where they should be at all times. An example of the application the system is being used for is roadside spraying, with the recording of applications and display of target areas and no spray zones on screen.

Colin Brown, Managing Director of TracMap, said the new technology in the utility services sector has the potential to double the size of the company and has been launched in New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.

TracMap has a proven track record in producing productivity gains and increased safety for sole operator machinery, especially where units are operating in hazardous or challenging areas. The company currently has a 70% share of the agricultural spreading contractor market and 50% of all fertiliser spread in New Zealand is completed with operators using TracMap technology. Productivity gains averaging 19.8% are being achieved by customers.
