Nosh comes to the Waikato

Media Release Hamilton – 1
12 August 2010

Nosh comes to the Waikato
Waikato shoppers are being promised the best in market-style grocery shopping with the announcement that a Nosh Food Market is due to open in the city in March next year.

The Hamilton Nosh will be modelled on the company’s flagship Dominion Road market in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden, with the full Nosh offering of the highest quality fresh produce, butchery, bakery and delicatessen at competitive prices.

It is Nosh’s sixth store and will be open seven days. The company plans to recruit locally to fill most of the 20 staff positions required to run the store.

Nosh has agreed to take a lease on new 480 sqm, stand-alone premises to be built on the site of the former Pizza Hut store on the corner of Mill and Ulster Streets in the CBD.

The new premises will be built by Downey Construction to a design by local Hamilton firm Noel Jessup Architects and a fit-out by Gascoignes. There will be on-site parking for 24 cars.

Nosh co-founder Clinton Beuvink says Kiwis are catching on to the affordable prices of market-style shopping.

“Hamilton shoppers will soon get the authenticity and expertise of the traditional butcher, the baker, deli, greengrocer and more, and all at real market prices and on one site. Plus, we focus on employing qualified, passionate and food-loving people whose knowledge of fresh produce enhance the Nosh shopping experience,” Mr Beuvink says.

Nosh’s emphasis on quality food and produce at affordable prices appeals to modern household shoppers who are becoming more creative in the kitchen.

“Eating in is the new dining out. Buying fresh produce and transforming it at home is how more New Zealanders are enjoying great food. We have tapped into this kitchen creativity by providing an inspirational shopping environment, offering fresh ideas for menus and education on how to prepare them.

“We are proud to now be bringing this offer to Waikato food lovers,” Mr Beuvink says.
