Dream holiday a welcomed break for West Otago farmer.

By Samantha van der Sande.

Tapanui farmer, Richard Young, could hardly believe his ears when he received the call to say he'd won the $5,000 dream holiday voucher at popular farming website RuralTrader.co.nz.

Mr. Young was one of the 2800 entries in the online holiday giveaway run conjointly by rural telecommunications company Farmside and RuralTrader.co.nz. Flight Centre was the prize sponsor

At the time of the call Mr. Young said he was "totally thrilled" and added the holiday would be a welcomed winter break from duties on his West Otago drystock and cropping farm.

Clearly elated, Mr. Young said he was unsure of a holiday location at the time but assured that he would be discussing it with his wife Keri, as soon as she returned from golf that evening.

RuralTrader.co.nz Director, David Meaney, said that the holiday giveaway was a major success and attracted a great deal of attention to the progressive young website.

"I'm extremely happy with the response to this competition, and I must express our appreciation of the support we've received from Farmside and Flight Centre.

"RuralTrader.co.nz has developed some fantastic working relationships with rural companies such as Farmside, and I believe it's these partnerships that will see the website continue to grow and succeed," Mr. Meaney concludes.
