Earthquake Prompts Offer of 24-Hour Turnaround

Earthquake Prompts Offer of 24-Hour Turnaround on Tax Refunds

Christchurch-based NZ Tax Refunds is offering Canterbury clients ‘next day’ tax refunds, following the devastating earthquake which struck the region on 4 September.

NZ Tax Refunds Managing Director Cilla Hegarty says it’s the least the company can do to help local people in the wake of the earthquake.

“Some of our clients face the subsequent loss of their home or workplace, so we are offering them next day tax refunds,” she says.

“Normally it can take up to 10-days to get a tax refund, but the people affected by the earthquake probably need money now and that’s exactly what we are offering them. At times like these, businesses need to do their bit to help those suffering in our community.”

NZ Tax Refunds, New Zealand’s specialist online tax refund company, provides a no-risk service for clients. Its system assesses whether an individual is eligible for a tax refund and if so the company applies on their behalf.

Cilla Hegarty says there are special conditions that apply to the ‘next day’ tax refund.

“Those people wanting to take advantage of the 24-hour turnaround in tax refunds unfortunately cannot be receiving Family Assistance, as IRD takes longer to process these requests. Also, the refund must be in the form of a bank transfer, as cash cannot be given out to clients.

“The payment will be available the next day for applications received by 4pm, Monday to Friday. This special offer is also only available for refunds less than $2,000,” she says.

Cilla Hegarty says people applying for this special offer should refer to the company’s terms and conditions.

“We are doing everything we can to make it as easy as possible, and as quick as possible, for those people who could do with the extra money right now.”
