smartphone with GoogleTM powered by AndroidTM 2.2
‘Smartphone for everyone’ is
first NZ device based on latest Android™ 2.2 operating
system
2degrees today announced it will be
the exclusive supplier of a heavyweight addition to its 3G
handset lineup: the new IDEOS™ smartphone from Huawei, a
device that brings full connectivity and the capabilities of
the Internet to a phone. Powered by the Android™ 2.2
operating system with Google™, the new IDEOS packs big
features in a small, stylish package.
“We think that the IDEOS is a real game-changer for the New Zealand market,” said Larrie Moore, Chief Marketing Officer for 2degrees. “When customers try out the new Android operating system, they’ll see that there really are other options out there for smartphone users. It’s got more features at a better price – it’s the smartphone for everyone.”
The new smartphone, which is the world’s first mass market smartphone to be powered by Android 2.2, redefines the “Android for all” concept by combining full feature performance with high-quality hardware and software at a very competitive price.
The ergonomically designed IDEOS provides a variety of ways to access the internet, boasting downlink speeds of up to 7.2Mb/s and offering 3G + Wi-Fi dual network support. The device also doubles up as a Wi-Fi router, making IDEOS an all-in-one solution for a range of wireless connectivity options.
The IDEOS not only runs faster, based on the latest 2.2 version of Android, but also supports functions such as voice dialing, voice navigation, and the ability to run applications in the SD card, meaning users aren’t limited by the built-in memory. With more than 80,000 applications available in the Android Market, IDEOS provides a wide range of communication, entertainment, and business management applications.
The IDEOS is available for RRP $379 from 2degrees stores, retail locations and through the online store from 1 November.
International markets that presently carry the IDEOS, include the US and UK.
