Nood launches flagship store in Auckland; Christchurch and Tauranga to follow this month

Nood (new objects of desire) will unveil a new flagship retail store on a high profile Newmarket, Auckland, site tomorrow night (Wednesday) with a second new-look store opening in Christchurch later this week.

Owned by retail entrepreneur Jan Cameron, former owner of the Kathmandu chain, Nood will open a further store in Tauranga later in November, with three more to follow in the next 12 months.

Heidi Barlow, Chief Executive of Nood, said that while the company was established three years ago, it had purposely maintained a low profile during this time as it refined its philosophy, built its team and streamlined its operations.

“We were also mindful of the economic conditions that have prevailed for much of this time, but we are excited by what we will be unveiling in Auckland, Christchurch and Tauranga this month, and in other centres throughout next year.

“We do have plans to have more than one outlet in some cities, but they are being designed in such a way as to complement each other rather than being a competitor,” she said.

Nood is a new era in style encompassing a range of fun and well-designed products that exude style, accessibility and affordability including furniture, ceramics, gifts and gadgets, luggage, home textiles and more.

“Our emphasis has been on creating room settings throughout the store These will contain an element of discovery for customers and hopefully will get them inspired to recreate the settings in their own homes.

“Nood aims to satisfy the style requirements of discerning customers looking to surround themselves in little luxuries. Our products suit all customers, giving them a new level of accessibility and affordability to well-designed, beautiful, lifestyle and homeware products,” she said.

Ms Barlow said that the Newmarket site at the corner of Broadway and Khyber Pass Road is perfect for the company’s flagship with its excellent exposure to both Broadway and Khyber Pass Road and the foot-traffic flows at this junction.

“This is a progressive part of Newmarket that will be further enhanced by the revitalisation programme that is being undertaken in the area, and the number of new boutique stores that are looking to open in the neighbourhood.

The 480sq. m. Newmarket flagship store was designed by leading Auckland company RCG.
