Earthquake affects Statistics New Zealand's releases

Due to the impact of the earthquake to Statistics New Zealand Christchurch operations some releases have been affected.


Below is the revised release schedule until March 3:

  • Building Consents Issued: January 2011, due to be released 28 February,
    is delayed until further notice.
  • Overseas Merchandise Trade: January 2011 will be published on 28
    February as scheduled.
  • StreetLink table update: March 2011, due to be released 1 March, is
    delayed until further notice.
  • Overseas Trade Index (Volumes) and Overseas Trade Index (Prices):
    December 2010 quarter will be published on 1 March as scheduled.
  • International Travel and Migration: January 2011, due to be released 3
    March, is delayed until further notice.
  • Value of Building Work Put in Place: December 2010 quarter, due to be
    released 3 March, is delayed until further notice.
  • The delivery of 2011 Census forms for all of NZ has been stopped until
    midday Friday 25 February. Work on implications for the census beyond
    this immediate window is being urgently undertaken.
  • Government Statistician, Geoff Bascand offered his condolences and support to the people of Christchurch.

    "The earthquake in Canterbury has been a traumatic experience for the
    people of Christchurch. Our thoughts are with them, their families and friends, and our staff, in Christchurch and around the country."

    Statistics New Zealand will provide a further update to the release
    schedule on Wednesday 2 March.
