Vodafone: Canterbury Aftershocks, 12noon update 14/6/11

Media Advisory – Canterbury Aftershocks, 12noon update

Power has now been restored to most sites in Vodafone’s mobile network in Canterbury following yesterday’s aftershocks. All sites are now fully functioning except Southshore and Shirley. We have eight sites operating on generators until full power is restored.

To help Cantabrians during this difficult time, Vodafone is offering customers in the Christchurch region a free divert from their Vodafone landline to their mobile phone for the next 30 days. This free diversion is for both residential and business customers. Consumer customers can call us on 0800 438 448, and business customers can call 888 from their mobile or 0800 400 888.

Two Vodafone retail stores are now open – Hornby Mall and Moorhouse Ave. We hope to have other stores opening later today.
A full list of tips on how to make best use of telecommunications during an emergency is available here:

Ongoing updates are also available on Vodafone’s Forum www.vodafone.co.nz/forum and on twitter @VodafoneNZ.
