Countdown – Christchurch Earthquake Update #3 14/6/11
Countdown Supermarkets – Christchurch Earthquake Update #3
The operations of Countdown Supermarkets remain disrupted following the series of earthquakes in Christchurch yesterday.
Countdown stores in the Christchurch area have experienced stock loss and some damage to store fixtures. Our team members who are in a position to do so are working hard to get our stores operational and open.
Countdown’s supply chain is returning to normal operations with regular deliveries to all stores across Christchurch and the South Island . There may be limited availability of some products for a short period of time as more consistent supplies resume.
Countdown store status:
Countdown Avonhead, Bush Inn, Church Corner, Hornby, Kaiapoi, Moorehouse, Northlands, Northwood and Rangiora are open and trading as normal for customers. Countdown Colombo Street will open this afternoon.
Countdown New Brighton is expected to open on Wednesday and Countdown Eastgate is expected to open in coming days. These stores are undergoing engineer checks and will not be re-opened until it is deemed safe to do so.
Countdown The Palms and Ferrymead remain closed from the earthquake on February 22.
Countdown’s online shopping service has resumed in some suburbs.
SuperValue & Fresh Choice store status:
The franchise operations of Progressive Enterprises have also been disrupted by the earthquake.
Fresh Choice Barrington, Fresh Choice Parklands, Fresh Choice Merivale, SuperValue Lincoln Road , SuperValue Wairakei, SuperValue Fendalton and SuperValue Oxford are open and trading as normal for customers.
SuperValue Sumner and SuperValue Stanmore are expected to open tomorrow and SuperValue Woolston is expected to pen on Thursday.
Further updates on operations and details on store closures will be made available in due course. The latest store openings with any changes will also be available on the Countdown website at www.countdown.co.nz and on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/countdown.
