Lyttelton Port of Christchurch: Coal Exports Are Now Underway

The Lyttelton Port of Christchurch is pleased to announce that coal exports have resumed.

Exports of coal had been delayed by damage to port infrastructure and equipment in the latest severe earthquakes on Monday 13 June.

Initial testing of the coal load-out system took place over the weekend and now loading is continuing in earnest.

We are continuing to test and monitor the load-out system, and repairs to Cashin Quay 1 will be ongoing for some time. Our priority is to get coal exports back to normal.

We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.
