Gull Petrol Prices To Hold

10 cent per litre savings possible over oil giant outlets

Auckland, July 13 2011 - Gull General Manager Dave Bodger says that the oil company minnow will hold off increasing petrol prices until at least Friday of this week.

"We note the 'big four' oil giants all moved prices up in one day yesterday (Tuesday). Prices at their outlets are - in the main - at $2.099 per litre for Regular 91 Grade Fuel," says Bodger.

"Our seven unmanned sites including our brand new outlet in Levin - that opened yesterday - are pricing at under the $2 per litre mark at $1.999. That's a simple saving of 10 cents per litre. That's $6.00 less for a fill for my car or my wife's people mover. Basically a free coffee and change in the back pocket.

"Our traditional outlets still offer very good savings per litre," continues Bodger, "Regular Plus is selling at $2.039 and Regular at $2.049 per litre. That should save you very close to the price of a cup of coffee when you pay inside on most tank fulls.

"We can't see any reason to lift prices now. It's true that international oil prices have increased but they are volatile and partially offset by the strong kiwi dollar. The AA called for prices to ease the other week, and we see any move to increase Gull fuel prices before Friday as unnecessary," concludes Bodger.
