West Auckland’s business awards finalists announced
The West Auckland business community gathered
tonight at Trusts Stadium for the announcement of the
finalists in the 17th annual Westpac Auckland West Business
Awards.
With a total prize pool of $65,000 on offer this
year, along with the prestige of being announced as a winner
in West Auckland’s business awards, competition has been
fierce.
Auckland Mayor Len Brown says the awards are an
important initiative that celebrates business success, while
also fostering and supporting business development as a
whole.
“I extend my congratulations to the finalists
announced here tonight, and also to all entrants in these
awards. Participating in the Westpac Auckland West Business
Awards 2011 required a substantial commitment of time and
effort. I would like to acknowledge all entrants’
dedication to the awards process and wish them all every
success in their business. I am sure they found the process,
and feedback from the judges, an invaluable tool for their
business planning and future success,” says Len
Brown.
“The Westpac Auckland West Business Awards aim
is to highlight the best in business, but also to promote
and drive economic growth throughout the area, regardless of
trade or size of business.”
Steve Jurkovich, Westpac’s Regional Manager – Northern, says the awards celebrate local business and business people.
“It is heartening to see the high calibre of finalists in the awards this year and see first-hand their business success, even in these tougher economic times. These awards highlight the innovation and resilience demonstrated by west Auckland’s business community and Westpac is proud to be major partner in celebrating, and nurturing, their success,” says Mr Jurkovich.
“We look forward to the announcement of winners for the Westpac Auckland West Business Awards 2011 in August.”
Auckland Tourism
Events and Economic Development’s (ATEED) General Manager
Business and Sector Development, Clyde Rogers, says the 2011
awards feature expanded categories and include an extended
boundary.
“We are excited to have announced more finalists than ever before with three new categories,” says Mr Rogers.
“This year we launched The Trusts Excellence in Service Delivery Award, the Unitec Excellence in Not for Profit Award and the Tasti Products Excellence in Manufacturing Award sponsored by last year’s Supreme Business Award winner. This made for bigger and better awards and a tougher job for our judges. We extend our thanks to them for volunteering their time.”
“ATEED
facilitates the Westpac Auckland West Business Awards 2011,
which now covers the entire west Auckland area including
Hobsonville, Riverhead, Kumeu, Huapai, Waimauku and
Woodhill, technically in the new north Auckland city
boundaries.
