Logajob – The Renovators &
Tradesmens Dream
19 September 2011
For Immediate Release
Frustration can lead to the most brilliant
of ideas. Sam Morgan’s search for a heater for his cold
Wellington flat one dreary winter resulted in Trademe, New
Zealand’s own answer to eBay.
A similar occurrence
has happened in New Plymouth, and the quick thinking of
Tonya Callebaut led to the launch of Logajob. Although
South African by birth, Tonya, a former stockbroker had a
burst of kiwi ingenuity during her first renovation
experience in New Zealand.
Juggling the demands of a
young family while having to scour the Yellow Pages to look
for tradesmen to quote on her own renovations became a
massive undertaking in itself. Invariably tradesmen would
arrive as the baby was being put to bed, or not turn up at
all. Without any word of mouth referrals to rely on, every
step in the renovating process was Tonya
Callebaut with sons Christopher & Daniel
frustrating and time-consuming.
Tonya realised chances were that
people all over the country were probably having similar
issues in terms of finding tradesmen to quote. Said Tonya
“I needed a way to get these tradies to quote on the jobs
I desperately needed done without having to come to my
door”. Logajob, an interactive online quoting system was
born.
Logajob’s brilliance is in its simplicity.
Homeowners simply log the type of job they need done
(including photos and plans), tradesmen are notified by text
alert to quote, the homeowner chooses the tradesman, and
upon completion of the job, feedback is registered about the
tradesman for future clients. There is no cost to the
homeowner for logging a job. Furthermore, because a broking
system is in place, tradesmen need to provide competitive
pricing when tendering for a job.
Logajob is set up so
that tradesmen don’t have to visit in order to quote, but
if not enough information has been provided in terms of
pictures, plans and specifications often a site visit will
be required. However, tradesmen need to be mindful that
timeliness in attending a site visit will be reflected in
the feedback provided on the job.
Tonya was impressed
with the Trademe, “how interactive it was and how people
were legitimately honest...in ratings”. The feedback
section of Logajob encourages transparency and aims to
provide a win-win situation for all.
The number of
tradesmen using Logajob is growing daily. Every type of job
imaginable is covered – from building a garden shed to
pest control, air-conditioning to window cleaning. According
to Tonya “Logajob will take the work out of your search
and the search out of your
work”.
