Loaded for Travel named Best Prepaid

MEDIA RELEASE

Loaded for Travel named Best Prepaid Travel Programme globally

Auckland, 23 October 2011 – Loaded for Travel, the world’s first reloadable multi-currency Visa TravelMoney prepaid card has been recognised on the world stage, winning Best Prepaid Travel Programme at The Prepaid Awards.

Loaded for Travel was launched in June 2010 by New Zealand Post, Kiwibank and Visa. It was the first multi-currency prepaid card in New Zealand and the world’s first reloadable multi-currency Visa TravelMoney prepaid card.

The card simplifies the travel experience by allowing travellers to load up to five different currencies (NZ$, AUD$, US$, Euro and GBP) on the same card, lock in favourable exchange rates and can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

Terese Tunnicliffe, New Zealand Post (Kiwibank) Payment Services General Manager says the Loaded for Travel card has changed the way Kiwis view payments when travelling overseas.

“It is widely recognised that Kiwis love to travel – we see more than two million international flights departing from New Zealand each year. Along with Visa, we saw an opportunity to simplify the management of money and improve payment security for these travelers. The Loaded for Travel card has been hugely popular and has surpassed all our expectations.”

Sean Preston, Country Manager at Visa New Zealand says the award recognises the innovative thinking behind the Loaded for Travel card.

“Loaded for Travel is a great example of how the prepaid industry continues to evolve to meet consumer needs and it is fantastic to see this rewarded. We would like to offer our congratulations to New Zealand Post and Kiwibank on their success and we look forward to working together in the future,” says Preston.
