Emirates Wins Long-Haul Accolade
Emirates has confirmed its position as one of the world’s leading airlines when it was honoured with the accolade of favourite long-haul airline at the coveted UK Telegraph Travel Awards.
The international airline took the top spot in one of two airline categories, covering short-haul and long-haul air travel.
The awards are based on the results of a poll of 23,000 UK Telegraph readers who were asked to select their favourite travel companies. They are viewed as a benchmark of quality and are highly sought after within the UK travel industry.
Laurie Berryman, Emirates’ Vice President UK and Ireland, collected the award held at a ceremony at London’s St Pancras Renaissance hotel, which was hosted by comedian Rory Bremner.
"As a constantly evolving and innovative airline, we strive to deliver the best quality and service for our passengers across the globe,” said Mr Berryman. “The fact that this award is voted for by Telegraph readers – and avid travellers – is a testament in itself.”
Commenting after the awards, held on 25th October, The Telegraph’s Group Travel Editor, Graham Boynton, said: “Emirates’ long-haul network now spans the globe. It will soon have the largest A380 superjumbo fleet in the world; any traveller who enjoys flying has to travel on these superb Airbuses, which Emirates has customised brilliantly. ”
Emirates operates 15 daily flights from Dubai to the UK, arriving at Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow, with direct connections from its four daily flights from New Zealand to Dubai.
