Vodafone Turns it Around
Vodafone Turns it Around
After languishing at the
tail end of the download results in September, Vodafone has
leapt up the rankings dramatically only a month
later.
Orcon has also moved up the rankings, taking second place from Telecom. Although TelstraClear's cable service remains in the lead for the third month in a row, TelstraClear's DSL service (available throughout the country) has entered the fray for the first time with a performance placing it last of the five major ISPs.
TrueNet's John Butt says "the greatest improvement was from Vodafone, moving from last to a position that would have seen them third in September, but for the competitive response from Orcon & Slingshot"
TUANZ chief executive Paul Brislen says the results are fascinating, given the way ISPs position themselves in the market.
"We're used to seeing ISPs fight it out purely on price terms, with customers forced to assume that all ISPs are alike. Instead, we're seeing clear differentiation in terms of the service being offered."

About
TrueNet:
TrueNet is a company dedicated to the accurate
measurement and reporting of broadband measurement. A joint
venture between the open source IT experts of Catalyst IT
and a company specialising in broadband reporting analysis,
Jonette Consulting.
TrueNet was launched by the founders
in July 2010 to fill a gap in the independence, accuracy and
depth of monitoring and analysis of broadband services being
offered to New Zealanders. The founders recognised that they
were able to combine their skillsets to implement a highly
usable and effective set of broadband tests that influence
broadband suppliers to provide a superior service, and
provide consumers with usable information to demand and
obtain a faster service.
