Andrew Ferrier joins Orion Health as a Director and Investor
Auckland, 16 December 2011 - New Zealand's healthcare software innovators, Orion Health, today announced the appointment of Andrew Ferrier to its board of directors.
Announcing the appointment, Orion Health's chairman Andrew Clements, said the company was delighted to welcome a person of Andrew's calibre to the Orion Health board and also as an investor in the business.
"We are New Zealand's largest privately-owned software exporter and as we continue to push the business globally, Andrew Ferrier's expertise and capabilities and international perspective will be invaluable."
Orion Health consistently demonstrates high growth, recording a 30% increase in operating revenue for the first six months of the 2012 financial year. Its global operations are expanding rapidly, recently winning large electronic healthcare system contracts in Australia, Singapore and the US.
Ian McCrae, Orion Health's CEO said "Andrew Ferrier brings a wealth of multi-billion dollar organisational experience to Orion Health and extensive knowledge of international business. This will be a tremendous help as we continue the company's growth trajectory to a billion dollar company. Orion Health sells knowledge and ideas in the form of software and this is exactly the type of company New Zealand needs to encourage as we climb OECD rankings."
Mr. Ferrier, who stepped down as CEO of Fonterra in September, said he was attracted to Orion Health for its growth potential, arising from a leading position in a number of major markets, and as one of the few New Zealand companies capable of scaling to become a true multinational.
"Orion Health is already a New Zealand success story in the local business landscape and in the global health technology industry, where Ian and his team have developed a fresh approach to business. Ian is a passionate New Zealander, with a dream of building a New Zealand success story on a global scale, and he and his team have already demonstrated significant progress toward that goal.
"Ian truly feels that Orion Health has the potential to surpass a number of New Zealand's agricultural based industries in export returns in the years to come"," Mr. Ferrier went on. "I like that vision and drive, and hope to contribute, with my experience in international markets and in building global, performance-driven teams."
Mr. Ferrier will play an active role on the board, and is also 'walking the talk' by taking a significant stake in the business through his family investment company, Canz Capital Ltd.
