Ezybook clocks up over half a million bookings

For immediate release.

Innovative New Zealand owned cloud solution Ezybook clocks up over half a million bookings on both sides of the Tasman.

The Kiwi-owned internet start up (www.ezybook.co.nz) that specialises in online booking for services businesses has been experiencing 15% month-on-month growth since being launched in the height of the recession three years ago. Over 200 businesses in Australia and New Zealand now use Ezybook with more than half a million bookings handled for 100,000 of their customers.

Co-founder Ben Fernandez says the strong growth of the business has already attracted interest from investors wanting to be part of a highly innovative growth story.

“Our business model is simple and it’s underpinned by an elegant and innovative IT platform managed by our company out of Wellington, which is proving to be a jewel for research and innovation in Australasia across many industries. Our rapid growth from zero to 200 businesses on both sides of the Tasman in just three years shows what a good idea well supported with Kiwi innovation can achieve. We now represent businesses in industries ranging from health, fitness and beauty to education,” Mr Fernandez says.

“On our current growth rate we expect to achieve 3.2 million online bookings annually by the end of 2014 and will have over 4,000 clients. Ezybook takes a fee for each booking and our ongoing development will open new markets and additional revenue streams. Naturally, investors see the potential to explode the growth of the business and up until now we have resisted the temptation to take on extra equity or partners despite several approaches until we are 100% clear that the business model and our systems are faultless, which they have proven to be. Choosing the right partners is critical and we will take our time in that assessment process.”

While launching in a recession was not ideal, Mr Fernandez said the timing was perfect as more and more businesses move from traditional software to cloud-based solutions. Mr Fernandez says Ezybook is extremely excited about its growth potential in Australia in particular.

“We only launched our Australian website (www.ezybook.net) in August last year and are already experiencing faster growth in that country than the initial launch in New Zealand. It’s exciting that Australian businesses are just as keen as kiwis to embrace online booking for their businesses and we are in the process of increasing our sales presence there.”
