GTA5 uses NZ Audio technology for game development
New Zealand based technology
trail blazer Arvus Digital – part of the Arvus Group has
confirmed that their world unique HDMI to AES/EBU digital
audio converter the HDMI-2A was used by RockStarNorth for
the audio calibration of the global success Grand Theft Auto
Five.
Arvus developed this digital audio technology in 2011 for Sony and has rapidly become the standard HDMI to AES/EBU interface for both the Game and Film post production industries.
Arvus Founder, Matthew Simmons explains the approach and market need for the HDMI-2A:
“on the back of our first successful digital audio converter the AES-2H we were asked by Sony if we could develop an 8 channel HDMI to AES/EBU converter as they needed such a device to help them verify the loudness levels out of their PlayStations. They required a simple solution to enable an industry standard for their large array of game developers; so we of course we went to work! – subsequently not only do Sony use dozens of these, now most leading game developers do as well.”
With hundreds of film and game studios in over 50 counties now using this NZ technology, Arvus has carved a unique niche in this very competitive industry. Companies such as Sony, Dolby, BluRay Audio Disc, Ubisoft, CBS, AT&T, Microsoft etc. and even our own ParkRoadPost rely on this key audio interface every day.
“......this is a classic tale of a market having a need and a New Zealand companies’ ability to adapt fast proving to be the critical element for success” says Mr Simmons
