ANZ Viaduct Events Centre sponsorship announced

Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre, owned and operated on behalf of Auckland Council by Regional Facilities Auckland, is to change its name to the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre as a result of a sponsorship from ANZ Bank New Zealand.

ANZ is Auckland’s and New Zealand’s biggest bank. There are 79 ANZ branches in Auckland, the company employs more than 3500 people in the city and it is the region’s biggest home loan, small business and commercial lender.

ANZ New Zealand CEO David Hisco said today that as Auckland’s downtown and waterfront continued to develop, the Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter were becoming popular places for people to congregate.

“We’ve recently made a multi-million dollar investment in renovating and repositioning our branches along Queen Street to better service our retail, small business and commercial customers,” Mr Hisco said.

“Having a strong presence along the Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter through the sponsorship of the high-profile ANZ Viaduct Events Centre is part of our central city strategy.

“This sponsorship is a vote of confidence in this relatively new part of the city.

“We’re confident this part of the city is going to continue to grow, particularly with hi-tech businesses, residential apartments and hotels, and Auckland Council’s planned city rail loop.”

Mayor Len Brown said today: “This is a great example of Auckland Council leveraging its assets to bring in private sector investment and support the development of our city. I congratulate ANZ Bank and Regional Facilities Auckland for this new and exciting partnership.”

Regional Facilities CEO Robert Domm said that he is delighted by this sponsorship with ANZ.

“This is an excellent fit with Auckland’s premium Viaduct Events Centre and I look forward to a long and beneficial partnership.”
