MyRepublic Announces Gigatown 1 Gbps Fibre Broadband Plans

MyRepublic Announces Gigatown 1 GBPS Fibre Broadband Plans

Free 3 Months Trial Extended Nationwide

Auckland, 21 November 2014 - Fibre broadband only provider, MyRepublic supports and applauds Dunedin, Gisborne, Nelson, Timaru and Wanaka with their bids to become New Zealand's first Gigatown.

“The Gigatown competition has really enhanced awareness of the benefits of fibre, especially outside the usual major cities, and we at MyRepublic are very keen to deliver on the promise and unleash the awesome potential of this fantastic technology upgrade called UFB.” said MyRepublic NZ Managing Director, Vaughan Baker.

MyRepublic are today confirming that 1Gbps residential plans for the successful Gigatown will be at the same price as the 100Mbps residential plans, Pure and Gamer. Both plans are truly unlimited and are not throttled in any way. Our Fibre TV and Voice services will be included in each plan for $99 or $109 per month for Pure and Gamer respectively. The entry-level business plan will also be upgraded to 1Gbps speeds.

Chorus Chief Commercial Officer, Tim Harris, says, “We’re delighted to welcome MyRepublic into the Gigatown family of service providers. MyRepublic’s focus on fibre means it is superbly placed to help the winning town reap the full potential of gigabit services for their community.”

The popular “Free 3 month trial” launch promotion will continue nationwide until 12 January 2015. MyRepublic extends this offer to residences that are not yet fibre broadband ready but will become so within 12 months of registration with MyRepublic. The successful Gigatown to be announced on Wednesday 26 November, wherever that may be, will also be eligible for this free trial.

For the 4 other Gigatown finalists, MyRepublic will be actively connecting homes and businesses to the 100Mbps minimum residential and business services with our gigabit capable router in readiness to migrate the towns to 1Gbps when this becomes commercially viable and available. MyRepublic will continue to work closely with Chorus and the other local fibre companies to make this a reality for all kiwis in the future.

In South East Asia, MyRepublic were the first to introduce 1Gbps services at a mass market price, were responsible for shifting Singapore to the fourth most affordable fibre broadband market in the world and instrumental in delivering benefits such as the recently established start up community there. MyRepublic look forward to delivering equivalent quantum leaps here in New Zealand.

MyRepublic looks forward to unleashing the full potential of fibre broadband and delivering the ultimate internet experience to all kiwis.

About MyRepublic
MyRepublic is purpose-built for the ultra-fast national broadband platforms available in Singapore and New Zealand. MyRepublic was founded in Singapore in 2011 and recently launched in New Zealand to challenge outdated incumbent attitudes on the importance of customer experience, products and pricing. Whether it concerns service reliability or superior support, MyRepublic looks to do things differently if it means doing it better, empowering consumers with greater choice and control over their online experience.
