Premium dairy brand launches ‘Breast Milk’ onto supermarket shelves
New Zealanders wanting to support the search for a cure for one of our biggest killers can do so by having a swig of ‘Breast Milk’.
Lewis Road Creamery is backing Breast Cancer Cure’s mission to find a cure for breast cancer by repackaging its most popular organic cow’s milk, Homogenised, as Lewis Road Creamery Breast Milkfor a three-month period, from today.
Twenty cents from every 1.5 litre bottle purchased during this time will be donated to Breast Cancer Cure, the charity committed to finding a cure for breast cancer by 2018.
Lewis Road Creamery’s Angela Weeks says that despite being called Breast Milk, the product inside is the same delicious Lewis Road Creamery Pure Organic Milk it has always been – fresh from the farm, and a cow.
“We were approached by Breast Cancer Cure with the idea and we loved it from the beginning. It is a bold way to help raise vital funds for a very important and worthy cause close to the hearts of many New Zealanders,” says Angela.
“We know breast cancer affects the lives of many of our customers, with one in nine women diagnosed with the disease. So we thought this an ideal way to give something back to our customers who have been so supportive of us over the last few years.
“What’s more, it is very easy for people to play their part. Most are already buying milk during their supermarket shop and with our price point for Breast Milk unchanged, people can opt to choose a delicious organic cow’s milk and support the search for a cure,” she says.
General manager of Breast Cancer Cure, Phillipa Green says she is thrilled to partner with Lewis Road Creamery on this initiative.
“We have the single-minded goal of finding a cure for breast cancer by 2018 and in order to do this we need to raise as much money as possible to fund the important work that our researchers are carrying out,” says Phillipa.
“The funds raised will be utilised by the Breast Cancer Research Partnership with the Health Research Council of NZ, to be allocated to future research projects into finding a cure for breast cancer.”
And in the meantime, Angela says she is really hoping New Zealanders choose Lewis Road Creamery Breast Milk over the next few months, to raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Cure.
“The more bottles of Breast Milk we sell, the more we will be able to donate and the bigger difference we can make.”
Lewis Road Creamery Breast Milk (1.5 litre) is available in supermarkets nationwide from 10 June to 8 September with an RRP of $6.09 (the same price as all 1.5 litre Lewis Road Creamery Pure Organic Milks). Twenty cents from each bottle will be donated to Breast Cancer Cure.
