Countdown brings Kiwi families a modern twist on a classic playground toy with the release of DisneyPixar Domino Stars

Thursday 30 July 2015: Disney•Pixar’s most-loved characters are toppling into Countdown stores with the launch of the latest collectible craze – Disney•Pixar Domino Stars.

The new collectible domino range features 50 characters to collect from Disney•Pixar films including Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Up, WALLE, Brave, Cars, and the latest box office hit, Inside Out.

The dominoes are designed to be collected and used to build the ultimate domino racetrack with obstacles including a Domino Stars bridge, maze, staircase and spinners.

Customers will receive a free Disney•Pixar Domino with every $20 spent in-store or online at Countdown until 13 September 2015.

Countdown General Manager Marketing Bridget Lamont says previous Countdown collectibles ranges have been a hit with Kiwis and she anticipates shoppers will fall in love with the Disney•Pixar Domino Stars too.

“By taking a classic toy and giving it a modern twist with the Disney•Pixar characters, we’ve created a toy that evokes nostalgia for an older generation and introduces dominoes to a new generation in an exciting way,” says Ms Lamont.

“We’ve had an incredible response from shoppers to our previous collectibles and we anticipate Disney•Pixar Domino Stars will be just as popular.”

“At the forefront of animation and innovation, Pixar’s emotion-filled stories and characters are beloved by adults and children alike,” said Kylie Watson-Wheeler, General Manager, Disney Consumer Products and Retail, The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand. “Disney is delighted to join with Countdown to offer this collectibles program, which allows Kiwi fans of all ages to experience and play with their favourite Pixar characters in an entirely new way.”

Supporting merchandise is also available in store to help shoppers store the Disney•Pixar Dominoes and build the ultimate domino racetrack. Supporting merchandise items are:
