2018 New Zealand International Business Awards
2018 New Zealand International Business
Awards
Date: 7 May 2018
Entries are open for the 2018 New Zealand International Business Awards, which celebrate the success of New Zealand businesses on the world stage.
The prestigious awards have been held for more than 50 years and some of New Zealand’s most iconic businesses have been winners, including Xero, Tip Top, Tonka and Gallagher Group.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s (NZTE) Chief Executive, Peter Chrisp, says the awards recognise the best of the best among New Zealand’s international businesses.
“We know that it is very challenging to grow into international markets from the edge of the South Pacific. And yet New Zealand is highly dependent on this growth for our future prosperity.
“Overall we are optimistic. Across New Zealand, there is a diverse range of clever, niche hunting, innovative businesses that are taking on the world with conviction and determination. This is our time to celebrate such companies,” says Mr Chrisp.
Entering the awards and going through the judging process takes businesses on a journey of critical analysis.
Michael Whitehead, founder of data warehouse company WhereScape, which won the Supreme Award in 2016, says: “The NZIBA are the ‘big’ awards for New Zealand exporters, and it is an honour to be a winner. However, the prize is not the trophy; it is becoming a better exporter.
"The awards process focused us on key success criteria, made us better, and helped WhereScape to graduate from being highly commended in 2015 to the supreme winner in 2016.”
David Downs, NZTE Convenor of Judges, encourages all companies operating internationally – who meet the eligibility criteria – to enter and share their success stories.
“Judging these awards is a highlight of the year for all the judges, who love seeing the amazing successes of New Zealand businesses on the world stage,” he says.
“For those entering, it’s a chance to tell the world about the success of your business, to get exposure and attract interest globally. These are the ultimate business awards for international businesses from New Zealand.”
Once again, NZTE is pleased to be working with ANZ as its strategic partner, as it has been since 2009.
ANZ’s Managing Director Institutional, Paul Goodwin, says ANZ’s support for the awards reflects the bank’s purpose to help people and communities thrive, through a successful export sector.
“Exports are critical to New Zealand’s economic success and this sponsorship gives us an opportunity to acknowledge the achievement of local exporters,” says Mr Goodwin.
