The Dust Palace Opens New Studio After Successful PledgeMe Crowdfunding Campaign
Auckland, New Zealand – 21 January 2019 – The Dust Palace continue to champion Aotearoa’s circus culture with their new studio in Penrose, Auckland opened Saturday, thanks to the roaring success of their crowdfunding campaign.
The crowd funding campaign was kickstarted by the circus spectacle Human last August. They also ran a crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMe which received a phenomenal response, raising their target of $140,000NZ – two weeks before the cut-off date.
The Dust Palace not only produces breath-taking productions, they also offer youth and adult classes in circus skills such as aerial silks, trapeze, and contortion. Founders Eve Gordon and Mike Edward decided that they needed a new location with multiple spaces to practice shows and run classes simultaneously.
The new venue is located in Penrose, Auckland. The fitted-for-purpose training and production venue that will give kids, the community and artists a collaborative space to build their physical and creative skills. The space also has the full kit and caboodle and can house other physical activities such as dance, tumbling and martial arts. Companies that will also be using The Dust Palace’s new space are Touch Compass Dance Co., Ludus Magnus School of Training and New Zealand Stunt School.
