Date Check takes the angst out of online dating

With over 240,000 Tinder users in New Zealand, online dating has become the go-to for singles trying to find a romantic partner.

But, in the plethora of online profiles across Tinder, OKCupid, and Zoosk – the three main players – it’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth and who’s perhaps fabricated an entire life for themselves just to look attractive. It happens, and it happens often. There’s a wealth of catfishing, romance scamming, and other more dangerous online dating activity happening in New Zealand on a daily basis.

Which is where the idea for Date Check began.

Watching friends walk through the rigmarole of online dating, Date Check founder Cheney McGlynn saw the need for a service that background checked potential online partners before getting romantically involved.

With a career in Police work, law and now private investigation, Cheney knows very well the lengths you have to go to find real answers and has created the Date Checkservice to provide daters with solid, reliable answers, quickly and discreetly.

It’s a service that hasn’t really been available until now, unless you were personally hiring a private investigator, which is an expensive exercise. Date Check instead provides background checks, romance scam checks, online infidelity and catfishing checks, in an affordable way through their team of Licensed Private Investigators.

Cheney says, “I had been thinking about this service for a while, doing a few background checks for female friends dating online. But after the murder of a female who had met up with a date from Tinder, I decided it was the right time. I’m not saying that we could have prevented her death, but if we can help one person avoid dating someone who might hurt them, scam them, or who is otherwise undesirable, then that’s a good thing. Think of it as a ‘peace of mind’ check”.

Live now, Date Check provides clients with a full report in as little as 24 hours. Then it’s up to them – to date or to dump.
