The Alien Nation of the law is explored through a quest for truth as twelve jurors fight discrimination, blind prejudice, alienation from the justice system and each other for the life of a boy who stands charged with the murder of his own father in this historical play.

For the first time ever in the Fringe Festival’s illustrious 17 year history a College production is presented to the public. Coming from a successful High School season in 2006, director Dylan Longley brings a fresh take on Reginald Rose’s perennial classic court room drama about a jury deliberating the guilt or innocence of an immigrant juvenile charged with the murder of his violent father and facing execution in the electric chair.

Using visually arresting sets and an innovative metaphorical costume design engineered with help from costume designer and builder Matt Appleton of WETA Workshops and Sam Trubridge from Massey University’s Production Design programme, the intense drama is given added flair to match the strong emotional punch of the dialogue and the physical interplay between the twelve key actors.

With both former students and those presently at Scots College, the cast represents a range of experience and age with celebrated actors Nick Dellabarca and Richard Osborne at the helm of the key roles.
