Mike Nielson Session in Review
Mike Nielson Session in Review
On Wednesday the 31st of
January MMF members had the privilege of attending an
evening with visiting Producer, Mix/Recording Engineer,
Writer and Programmer, Mike Nielsen. Drawing on his vast
experience working with artists such as Jamiroquai, David
Gray, Snow Patrol and B.B King, Mike discussed his views on
the role of a producer, technological issues facing the
music industry, current market trends in the UK and the
challenges facing NZ bands traveling abroad. Those in
attendance can attest to the unassuming manner in which Mike
generously answered questions and shared his knowledge. To
the delight of those attending Mike also expressed a genuine
interest in working on NZ based projects, and true to his
word, he recently began work on a project with one of our
MMF members.
MMF On-line Session with Teresa
Patterson
The MMF recently held its second on-line discussion via the MMF's members forum. The session was hosted by our very own Teresa Patterson and was a general discussion about issues and challengers facing managers in New Zealand. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience working in record companies and managing some of NZ's top artists Teresa offered invaluable advice on how to pitch to promoters, touring bands overseas and managing artists based abroad. For those of you who missed the session it is now available for review in the Members section of the MMF website.
Standby for an announcement about our next online
discussion scheduled for mid March
Upcoming MMF
