NICK ROCKS
– THE SEARCH FOR NZ’S BEST KIWI KID BAND
The
search is on for New Zealand’s youngest talented rock
stars. Inspired by Nickelodeon’s launch of the second
series of The Naked Brothers Band, the 2008 Nick Rocks
competition gives kid bands all around the country the
chance to strut their stuff and put their talent on the
tele…
2007 saw the Nick Rocks
competition gain momentum up and down the country, with over
100 entries. Nickelodeon believes that this year’s
Nick Rocks comp will prove to be even more
popular.
Last year’s winners, Without Conscious Thought, recorded an original track and filmed an amazing music video produced by Nickelodeon. The music video was played on Nickelodeon for Nickheads around NZ to see, and went on to win the ‘Juice TV Best Video Award’ They also performed at the ‘Shine 2008’ youth music concert.
“Since winning the competition …we have been working on our vocals as a band and our song-writing skills and hope to enter more competitions in the future. An album has always been one of our biggest goals and we hope to record one as soon as we have enough original material,” says Adam of the 2007 Nick Rocks winning band Without Conscious Thought.
The 2008 Nick Rocks competition will see another talented young Kiwi band win the chance to record their winning single, along with a professionally produced music video, and feature in Upstart Magazine with rock-star treatment, interviews and radio play on Classic Hits. The winner’s music video will be aired on Nickelodeon throughout 2008 for all Nickheads to see nationwide. If Without Conscious Thought’s success is anything to go by, winning Nick Rocks could just be the ticket to making it big for some unknown Kiwi kid band out there
From Sunday
15th June, Kiwi bands with two or more members aged
between 5 and 15 years old can enter Nick Rocks. To
enter, a band simply needs to submit a demo track and a band
